Questions for Week Two:
- Ida B comments that the phrase "It's nothing" usually means there's more than plenty to worry about, but not too much that can be done. What situation is she referring to within her family? Make a connection to another similar situation.
- Describe the mood in Ida B's house after Mama's treatments. Give examples from the book to support your thoughts.
- Ida B speaks of her heart hardening. What causes this to happen to her? Compare this to a character in another novel you have read.
- Describe how Ida B's experience at school is different this time around. What is her reaction this time?
- Explain what happened to the edge of the Applewood land. Make a prediction about what the future will bring with this new change.
