Questions for Week Three:
- Your first post for this week is an open forum; feel free to discuss anything in this week's readings that you feel is important and worthy of our conversations.
- Your second post for this week should be a question based on this week's reading. What would you like to discuss with your classmates?
- Your third and fourth posts should be answers to your classmate's questions or responses to their posts.
Towards the end of last week's posts, I noticed that many of you started stepping up your blogging posts and are adding more details! I am impressed by this and hope it continues this week as well. This will definitely be reflected in your grade. I am proud of your efforts!

Dear Ida B bloggers,
ReplyDeleteWhen Ida read from that book called "Alexandra Potemkin and the Space Shuttle to Planet Z" in class she was scared and didn't want to do it even when she read the book already. She must be a fast reader because she read the book in 2 days, I wounder how long the book is? After she read the book she felt happiness in side her witch she doesn't like,I think is sad that she doesn't want to feel happiness.I would like to feel happiness if I were always sad.

Dear Ida B bloggers,
ReplyDeleteIn the book where she has to turtor a boy named Ronnie DeKuyper on his multiplication facts, which I don't think she wanted to do at first but Ronnie did not like it at first ethier. After a while they became friends but Ida did not want anyone to know. I wounder why she did not want anyone to know she was helping him out or that they were playing math games and racing games together? The game they were playing was one would give them a question and the other would solve it. They played with quarters. I think that game may be a little fun. Then after school they would race in secrate.

Dear bloggers,
ReplyDeleteSomething significant that I noticed in chapters 18 is that Ida B could tell when her teacher was up to something. I guess she kind've likes Ms. Washington, but she still feels uncomfortable in school. When her teacher asked her to help one of her classmates with his times-tables, she seemed glad that her teacher was looking to her for help, but Ida B still felt weird helping other students.

Dear jfo0123,
ReplyDeleteYou are doing a great job on your blogs. You're first blog told exactly what Ida B felt like during school. I guess she is a fast reader, but she just doesn't feel right sharing her thoughts and ideas during class. The book does say that she gets a good feeling after she reads, and I think that she has a talent for reading, but she just doesn't realize it.
Keep up the great work!

Sup Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteWhen Ida B has to tutor Ronnie, I don't think she really wants to, but she does because she wants to help her teacher. I think Ida B is sort of being mean to her teacher because she secretly likes her, but doesn't let her see it. When Ida B tutors Ronnie, I think Ronnie feels embarrassed, but he shouldn't. Some people are just good at different things. Then when Ida B and Ronnie start to play games, I think they are becoming good friends.

Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteIda teacher thought since she loves to practice teaching or reading books in her room just like her teach one of the students in her class that doesn't know how to do his times tables well that she could help him. The boy's name is Ronnie and he is the fastest runner in the grade. But , when Ida came over by by him he was a little embrassed that he didn't know how to do do some of his math very well. How would you have tried to help ronnie learns his times tables and make him not as shy anymore ? I would have told him that even though he is the best at racing or really good at something that doesn't mean that he has to give up on the other things he needs to work on. Write back soon.

Dear Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteIda B is sort of being mean to Mrs. Washington by not letting her know that Ida B likes her. Why do you think Ida B is doing this? I think it is because Ida B likes to control everything and she thinks she will have more control this way.
From,
JO0523
Dear MM,
ReplyDeleteIf I was in Ida B's position regarding Ronnie, I would simply tell him that there is no reason to be shy and I would probably say something like "You are a faster runner than me! We all have our strengths and weaknesses..." I hope this would make Ronnie feel better and if it doesn't I would just not make him feel bad when we are practicing. I would also do what Ida B does and kind of be friends with him even when they are not practicing.
Dear bk0323,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that Ida B Likes Ms. W. because she is a nice teacher to her and asks if she wants to do something, unlike her other teacher she had. I think she loves to hang out with Ronnie but she does not want anyone to know because she doesn't want people to know she is having fun at school. I didn't think Ronnie like Ida B helping him out in the beginning just as much as Ida didn't want to help in the beginning. But now they like to hang out.

Other readers of this book,
ReplyDeleteAt Ida B's school what do you think Ida thought the next day when Ms. Washington could not read to the class? Why couldn't she read to the class? When Ida would read books at home to her animals who did she say that she was trying to read like? Talk to you later.
From mm0104
jf0123,
ReplyDeleteGood observation. I didn't really notice that until you blogged to me. I totally agree that the two classmates enjoy working together during school. I think that Ida B doesn't want people to know that she enjoys school because she already told her family that she hated it and she doesn't want to admit that she was right.

Dear JF,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you when you say that it was amazing that she read that book in 2 days. I have never read a book in 2 days. I wonder if the book she read was real. If it was we could look it up!! I can make a connection because a little while ago I was reading a book called Life As We Knew It and I couldn't put it down! I was sad when Ms. Steffen told us to fill out our blue sheets because I loved the book so much. I was also sad when I was done reading it because I didn't want it to end!!

JF,
ReplyDeleteI think the reason that she didn't want anyone else to know that she was tutoring Ronnie for his times tables the other students in her class might make fun of her. And the reason she was running with him was to help him practice for his running things. Talk to you later.
From mm0104
Dear jo0523,
ReplyDeleteI kind of agree with you that she likes to be in control but I also think she does not want people to know she likes school and that she does not want to let people know how she feels because then people may talk to her or share stuff that they feel which she does not want.

Dear bloggers,
ReplyDeleteIf any of you were at a new school, what would be your reaction? Would you give off a vibe that you didn't want to be there, like Ida B, or would you participate in class and be happy to be there? Explain.
I would be shy at first, but after I make a few friends I would start participating more.
BK0323
bk,
ReplyDeleteIf I were at a new school I would be shy. And I would worry that my new school would be hard to adapt to. I would not be like how Ida was and how she acted different. I would try to be on my best behavior. And I would try to make some friends there because it will make school esier to you. Don't you think so ? Write back soon! from mm0104
when she read the book in class was she scared. she then felt gladness that she didn't want. She must ba a great reader because she finished the book in 2 days.

ReplyDeletedear blogers,
ReplyDeletewhats important is that Ida B. didn't want to tutor but she did for her teacher to help her out. she is having a better relationship with her teacher.
Dear JF and JO,
ReplyDeleteI agree with both of you, that it is amazing how she read the book in 2 DAYS!!
Dear Bk,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you it would be hard for me to adaptto a new school like the scedual, the rooms, and the kids.
Dear Peps,
ReplyDeleteA funny thing in the reading is how Ida makes the posters that are trying to keep people away. It kind of reminds me of me when I was going to move I would try to tell my parents bad things about my house so the people wouldn't be able to move in. I was so mad when we had to move. Others love to move (Mrs. Mahoney) but I very much dislike it. I hope I never have to move again because I love my house.

Dear dudes, and dudet,
ReplyDeleteHow come do you think Ida won't talk to her teacher? I think she's kind of afraid of her. I wonder if the teacher even knows abot Ida's mom?If I were the teacher I would tell Ida to go play with the kids and have fun. I think Ida just feels sorry for herself, I hate it when people feel sorry for themselves because then they never do anything.

Dear Cool people,
ReplyDeleteI'm responding to mm0104. It's nice how Ida wants to help her friend. It's also kind of funny because she went to his house and tried to give him a lesson. If that happened to me my parents would make fun of me because they would think that I would have a girlfriend. Except there's one problem, girls are gross and they have cooties.

Dear Book Club Friends,
ReplyDeleteWell what I have really wanted to be talking about in these chapters is how Ida B isn't her regular self and denies a lot of things that she would of done before she lost her heart. What the other is making Ida sound like makes me actually feel depressed when I read the book. Now that she's starting to get involved more in school I think she's going to turn back into her normal self.

Dear Classmates,
ReplyDeleteMy question that I would like to turn into a class discussion is, why does Ida B yell at their new neighbors and what does that make Ida feel like after their fight?
From,
kk0109
Dear JO,
ReplyDeleteI disagree with you on how you think that Ida is being mean to her teacher. I think she's not being mean because she still listens to her and does stuff for her teacher to like teaching Ronnie and reading the book to the class because Ms.W was ill.
From
kk
Dear MM,
ReplyDeleteWhat I think that Ida B thought when Ms. W couldn't read is that I think she assumed that somebody in the class would have to read for her and since she's making Ida do a lot of things for her she kind of knew she was going to read. When Ida B was reading to her animals she pretended she was Ms.Washington because she thought that Ms.W was a really good reader and wanted to be just like her.
from,kk
Dear KK,
ReplyDeleteI read this book for R.O., and I think that Mrs. W. knows that Ida is going through a rough time in her life, and is trying to make her feel better, and the Author really captures that. But (like you said) Ida also wants to be thought as a great reader, like Mrs. W.. As I read the entire book at least 7 times, I think I've gotten a good standing on Ida's feelings.
But I think you have also grasped this idea
